While Dancing Goats is rooted in the Pacific Northwest and Kaldi’s Coffee has been at the heart of the Midwest coffee scene since its founding in 1994, it was in Atlanta that Cherie Challain, co-founder of Dancing Goats Coffee, met Tricia Zimmer, co-owner of Kaldi’s Coffee Roasting Co, and bonded over coffee, design, and a love for community. This meeting sparked a decade-long friendship, as both companies championed the ethics and strengths of relationship-based coffee. In the late 2000’s, Kaldi’s even created a dual-roaster blend with Dancing Goats Coffee, an extremely rare occurrence in the coffee industry, that bore both companies’ brands.
As Cherie and her husband, Larry, prepared for the adventure of retirement, Tricia and her brother, Tyler Zimmer, were the first people they thought to entrust with their lifelong passion. The reuniting of Kaldi with his Dancing Goats is a natural blend for the two coffee families. Kaldi’s Coffee Roasting Company is excited to bring a modern edge to the relationships forged across the decades with Dancing Goats’ global producers, team members, and wholesale partners.
